My husband Ryan and I arrived in sunny LA on Saturday evening around 6:30. We grabbed our luggage and headed to Enterprise to pick out our California rental car! Since this was Ryan’s second time to California, I had to initiate him well with nothing other than IN-N-Out Burger! It was scrumptious, I savored every bite! Hopping into our pearl white Toyota Avalon we drove two hours north to Shafter. We were hosted for three nights by my dear friends Frank and Cindy Peters. I had the privilege of recruiting two of the three Peters’ — Megan and Zach — to Tabor a few years ago. It is such a blessing to feel at home again in Shafter. A special thanks to Frank and Cindy for their love and hospitality!
Heritage Bible Church-Bakersfield, CA
Sunday morning Ryan and I were at Heritage Bible Church in Bakersfield where my friend Dave Froese pastors (he is the father of 4 boys who attended Tabor).
With donuts and juice under our arms we headed into Jr/Sr High Sunday School where we were greeted with smiles from youth pastor Joe Brown and his youth! We were impressed how the students lead the worship, announcements and prayer time.
I even got the opportunity to share a little about Tabor and give away some free t-shirts and wristbands!
Shafter MB Church-Shafter, CA
Sunday evening Ryan and I went back to Shafter where we hung out with 35-40 youth at Shafter MB Church. I am telling you, they have a sweet youth room. There is a pool table, air hockey table, TVs for video games, a big kitchen with snacks and soda, a loud sound system and a stage where we were again blessed with youth leadership in music! Just like at Heritage Bible, I shared about Tabor College and gave away free stuff! More importantly I was given the opportunity to share a short devotion.
I shared from Mark 6, the specific section where Jesus called his disciples to travel sharing the gospel. I challenged these students to do the same wherever God takes them but especially as they go to Utah for their spring missions trip.
Well, I’m off to another choir concert in Reedley! I have so much more to share, that was just my Sunday! I will post Monday and Tuesday happenings and especially the Tabor College Concert Choir soon! Stay tuned!
