City of Hutchinson

The city of Hutchinson is seeking applicants for the following positions:

Firefighter

The next Firefighter entrance exam will be April 2, 2010. Applicants must be at least 18 and have a high school diploma or G.E.D., a valid Kansas driver’s license and EMT certification.

Police Officer

The next Police Officer exam will be held on March 8, 2010. Applications will be accepted until February 28. Applicants must be 21 or older and have no prior felony convictions, a high school diploma or G.E.D., and a valid Kansas driver’s license. A technical degree or some college credit is preferred.

Seasonal Fun Valley Maintenance Worker

This is a seasonal position that would consist of 40 hours a week. Worker would be responsible for maintenance of ball fields. No previous experience is required.

Sewer Maintenance Worker

This position assists with maintenance of sanitary and storm sewer systems and maintains sewer lines. 1-3 years of similar experience is preferred.

Storm Water Management Coordinator

This position is responsible for the management and enforcement of the City’s Storm Water Management Program. Applicants must have an A.A. degree or equivalent coursework and at least 2 years of similar experience.

Job Description:
The Crew Leader will be responsible for assigned contracted maintenance accounts, manage crew personnel & production, deliver quality services, and provide excellent customer service. This position requires good organizational, leadership, time management, and communication skills.

Primary Responsibilities:
The Crew Leader will:
* Supervise landscape maintenance services & special projects for specific clients
* Meet with clients to review work performed & update on progress. Evaluate & improve quality of landscape
* Oversee crew staff and assign daily responsibilities. Mentor and train crew staff to improve performance
* Plan, schedule, supervise, and perform daily production tasks: Mowing, rejuvenation pruning & shearing, weed eating, edging, weeding, tree/shrub installation, seasonal color installations, remedial landscaping, etc.
* Participate and conduct training sessions to ensure proper use, care, and inventory of company vehicles, equipment, and tools. Promote safety by maintaining a safe work environment

Several seasonal and full-time positions are available in the city of Hutchinson. Positions that are currently available:

Emergency Services Dispatcher $14.6550 – $20.7677/hour
Answering 911 and non-emergency phone lines for requests for assistance, prioritizing calls and dispatching the appropriate law enforcement, fire, EMS or other agency and utilizing Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and other computer/software to document all responses.

Seasonal Horticulture and Forest Maintenance Worker $7.50/hour

Full-time seasonal position. Performs horticultural, forestry, maintenance, custodial, and construction duties; 1-3 years similar or related experience is preferred; no education diploma required.

Seasonal Park Maintenance Worker $7.50/hour

Full-time seasonal position. The primary function of this position is janitorial work with possible construction and maintenance duties.

Seasonal Zoo Maintenance Worker $8.00/hour
Full-time seasonal position; performs grounds care and maintenance duties at Carey Park Zoo.
