Hello! Here I am managing our family’s two man kayak! My name is David Loewen, the administrator of this blog. The purpose of this blog is two-fold. 1st and formost it is a blog for Tabor College(TC) Secondary Education Students and secondly it exists for the publication of Secondary Education student work. Links to helpful education sites will be posted here. Also posted will be other helpful information for students as they go through the secondary education program to become licensed in the state of Kansas, and if they choose, to become licensed by the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI). If you’ll keep your paddle in the water up in the front seat, I’ll help guide you through the waters of TC’s Secondary Education Major!

ED 215 Planning Instruction is a new course that has been added to the Secondary Education Major. It will be offered for the first time this spring. The course will involve the basics of lesson planning and teaching. “Planning Instruction” will also involve a 15 hour practicum in which the preservice teacher will spend time either tutoring students or leading activities in the local secondary schools. This course will also serve as a prerequisite to the other three methods courses required in the Major.

Previously secondary education students as Tabor received a major in their subject area with the addition of a host of professional education requirements. With a few minor professional education adjustments that host of professional education requirements has now been recognized as a major. As a result, all secondary education students at TC will now be receiving a double major. One in their content area and one in Secondary Education. This will now appear on your transcript and in the graduation program when you graduate! I always knew you all had to work really hard to get through the licensure program and now your hard work will be recognized!
